Managers and leaders must learn functional skills for both minimizing or eliminating unproductive conflict and successfully influencing natural conflict to productive resolution. Participants learn proven tactics for minimizing/preventing unproductive conflict caused by execution of low emotional intelligence, low awareness of patterns and trends and mis-steps in professional communication dynamics. This part of the program is invaluable to managers and leaders who are want to focus on high performance and not waste time putting out unnecessary fires!!
The second part of the training is rooted in the five Thomas Kilmann (TK) Conflict Modes and their application in business. Participants will complete a personal TK modes analysis as a baseline and practice strategic mode-shifting as role plays to increase their confidence and skills in applying the modes to productive conflict resolution. Participants will do exercises involving concept mapping, role playing the TK modes, learning "emotion-triggering words", objective querying, reading body language and the importance of tactical use of timing, sequencing and termination tactics. Participants will also share best practices for additional conflict prevention tactics. The training program is dynamic, interactive and rooted strongly in practical application. Managers and leaders will complete the program having learned numerous new tools to employ and with the confidence to apply the tools immediately in the field.
